- Great for: opening deals, pasta/pizzas, pollo chicken wings, italian gourmet retail
Checked out the newly-opened Capitol Building this evening, gorgeous place! So proud to have a slice of history just round the corner where i work. Gourmet heavyweights are going to start opening for business soon within the compound, but there are eager beavers who have thrown their shutters wide open for curious guinea pig diners like me, DC and Flips. Spizza Mercato, the latest atas offspring of the Spizza chain of pizzeria is one of the few restaurants that have opened its doors to the public. Offering their usual pizzas (26 in all – creatively named from A to Z), pastas and anti-pastis, Spizza Mercato also has a counter filled with take-away mini gourmet pizzas and an array of baked products. Taking its first dips into on-site retailing, Spizza Mercato stocks up on a variety of Italian cookbooks, kitchen utensils, olive oils, pancetta and the likes. Definitely a different consumer experience as compared to the other Spizza stores. We ordered a mushroom soup, 2 desserts (Apple crumble and Tiramisu) plus 2 mains (Quinta pizza, fresh Fettucine with Carbonara), which came free with 6 pieces of Pollo chicken wings << voted star dish of the day. I personally will not recommend the mushroom soup (salty maximus) and the Apple Crumble (saccharine maximus). Their pasta and pizza was of course Spizza-licious as usual. The meal costs us $78 in total. Decently priced for a a sizable Italian meal. We were filled to the brim. Visit them soon for their opening deals! The free 6 pc Pollo chicken wings (till 30 Apr 2015) is definitely worth combing through the B2 maze to find them. Most importantly though, The Capitol is so pretty!
