This is again a recommendation by one of my most trusted foodie – DC. A simple breakfast meal of pork porridge + chicken as a side dish (trademark combi at Rong Ji’s), all under $10 for 2 pax. The owners used to operate from the renowned Fei Fei Wanton Mee stall but relocated to this side coffeeshop which is famous for their Black Pepper crabs served during dinner. Apparently, they have had 40 years of experience at Waterloo before moving to the east! Loveee old-school food veterans like them. Their current location is just beside Still Road, you can’t miss it.
The porridge had a very generous portion of minced meat and pork liver. The proportion of the meat, egg and you tiao mixed within the congee gave rise a to a flavourful and wholesome gooey goodness. Guarantee to start your day right! The chicken was also smooth and extremely tasty. Besides pork porridge, they sell the fish and chicken versions too.
Would go back for the wanton mee (stall beside Rong Ji) next.
